ACTSA Breakfast Hedge Accounting – Enhancing treasury’s risk management toolbox
Mar 19 @ 7:00 am - 9:30 amFree
The Association of Corporate Treasurers of Southern Africa (ACTSA) invites you and your colleagues to a Breakfast Presentation where presenters Ashley Sadie and Cristina Dos Santos will unpack the necessary tools required to enhance your treasury’s risk management.
FRS 9 introduced a number of fundamental changes to the hedge accounting requirements – most notably the removal of some of the key prohibitions under IAS 39 and the broadening of the scope of qualifying hedging relationships. In the current global environment of increased volatility in foreign exchange rates, interest rates and commodity prices, the need to mitigate financial statement volatility has become more pronounced and with it, a need to consider the potential benefits of the implementation of hedge accounting.
This session will explore:
- Key hedge accounting principles, including the related implementation requirements;
- The implications of changing hedging strategies from IAS 39 to IFRS 9;
- A selection of case studies illustrating the practical application of hedge accounting to common hedging strategies; and
- Key developments, trends and topical matters relevant to hedge accounting (macro Hedge Accounting, impact of regulatory reforms and more).
